Swimwear: For any age group swim meets, 12 and under athletes may not wear any "high tech" competition suits that go past the shoulder line or past the knees; exceptions…..open events or senior events or national level meets that are classified national level. Purpose……to keep the sport cost effective at the age group level as well as promote the value of teaching technical development. LSC's may pass more restrictive legislation.

IMX: Individual teams should encourage kids to participate…..more individual clubs should offer IMX events/meets.

IMX Xtreme Games: National Age Group Championships…..roll out will be next 11/12, 2009.

Senior Zone Meet: For 2009, there will be a separate zone meet which will be held in the Woodlands in 2009 and 2010 for 15 & overs August 6-8. There will be qualifying times. This is a meet to "bridge the gap" for our athletes between sectionals and upper level meets. The meet is club format vs. LSC format. Regular zone meet will still be the same format in 2009 but will most likely change to 11-14 single age groups in 2010.

Open water events: Teams and LSC's should do more of these events since it is an Olympic event. Many LSC's are not offering these events and we need to grow the event…..maybe we need an open water coordinator. Get more information on open water events in the coaches section of USA Swimming….information on how to host and help with running open water events.

LSC Spirit Camps: Very few LSC's are doing swim camps. We need to try to get this started again. Many LSC's attendance at these are way down….many individual coaches feel like camps will cause swimmers to change teams and most coaches are not open to other coaches working with their athletes. We should encourage these camps and we need to find a camp coordinator to head this up. There is plenty of information on USA Swimming about these camps.
