2024 Southern Zone Team Athlete Application
This application is for those athletes wishing to be considered for selection to South Texas Swimming's 2024 Age Group Zone Team. The team shall participate in the Southern Zone Age Group Championships, held from July 24-27, at the FMH Natatorium in Midland, Texas. Applications close at 11:59pm, Wednesday, June 19, 2024. No late applications will be accepted. The Athlete Co-Payment is $500 for the 2024 SZ Age Group Team. Once the team has been announced, the Athlete Co-Payment link, Medical Release form and other important trip information will be sent to each family directly.
ELIGIBILITY: To be eligibile, a swimmer must be between the ages of 11 to 14, a member of STSI in good standing and be available to swim all days of the meet. Team selections are made by the Zones coaching staff, as approved by the Age Group Chair, in effort to assemble the most competitive team representing South Texas.
SELECTION PROCESS: South Texas Swimming shall select up to twelve (12) swimmers in each of the following age groups & genders from the applications submitted by the deadline set forth here for a total of up to forty eight (48) to represent South Texas at the 2024 Southern Zone Age Group Meet:
- 11-12 Girls
- 11-12 Boys
- 13-14 Girls
- 13-14 Boys
In addtion, six (6) qualified Para-Swimming Athletes (3 Girls and 3 Boys, age 11-18) will be selected to the team as well. The following factors will be taken into consideration when selecting the swimmers for the Zone team:
- Event rank (LCM times will take priority over non-conforming times - SCY/SCM)
- Championship Meet experience
- IMX & Power Point scores
PARTICIPATION: This is a team travel event and accommodations are arranged by South Texas Swimming. We will be traveling via charter bus together as a team on July 23 to Midland, Texas, and return on July 28. Athletes will be sharing hotel rooms with other teammates of the same gender. All athletes will be expected to adhere to the South Texas Swimming Code of Conduct. Any violation will result in the athlete being sent home at the families’ expense and reimbursement will be made to South Texas Swimming for the total cost of the trip for the athlete.
PARTICIPATION FEE: The $500 athlete co-payment includes meals, travel/transportation throughout the duration of the trip, lodging and Zone team gear. South Texas Swimming will also provide each swimmer with five (5) team meet shirts, one (1) team meet suit and two (2) swim caps. Swimmers will be allowed to bring one (1) additional bag for clothes along with their Zone Team bag.
