South Texas Open Water Swimming
Congratulations to our 2025 South Texas Swimming Open Water Zones team!
Applications are now closed for Athletes and Coaches wishing to participate as part of the 2025 South Texas Swimming Open Water Zones Team, April 25-27, 2025, in Ft. Myers Florida.
South Texas Swimming will be taking a team of up to 48 swimmers to the 2025 Open Water Zones in Ft. Myers, Florida (Lynn Hall Park), on April 25-27, 2025. The team will be selected based on the 2024/2025 Short Course and 2024 Long Course season's distance events and age. Distance swimmers are encouraged to apply. Swimmers must have an A or faster time in at least one of the following events: 400/500 Free, 800/1000 Free, or 1500/1650 Free. The 11-12 age group will be primarily based on the 400/500 Free. The 13&Over age group will be primarily based on the 1500/1650 Free. Age Group selection is as follows: 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, and Open. FINA AGE IS NOT BEING USED AT THIS EVENT. Late applications will not be considered. The STX Open Water Team will be selected no later than Sunday, March 16. A payment of $400 must be made to South Texas Swimming via Zelle or personal check once you have been selected to travel with the team; otherwise, your spot will be forfeited.
After the team has been selected and all athletes have accepted their spot on the team, you will receive more detailed information on the trip. The event information document is posted here.

Open Water Zones Applications Now Open
ATTENTION SOUTH TEXAS ATHLETES:
Are you a Distance Swimmer looking for an opportunity to race "Beyond the Black Line"?
South Texas will be taking a team of up to 48 swimmers to the 2023 Open Water Zones in Seven Lakes, NC June 2-4.. The team will be selected based on the 2022/2023 Short Course and 2022 Long Course season's distance events and age. Swimmers must have an AA time in the 400/500, 800/1000, or /1500/1650 Freestyle to apply. Previous Open Water experience is also taken into consideration when selecting the team. The 11/12 age group will be based on the 400/500 (Mile time is beneficial). The 13&Over age group will be based on the 1500/1650. Age Group selection is as follows: 11/12, 13/14, 15-16, Open
DEADLINE TO APPLY IS SUNDAY MARCH 5. APPLY HERE. The Team will be selected no later than Friday March 17. A payment of $400 must be made to South Texas Swimming once you have been selected to travel with the team otherwise your spot will be forfeited.

If for any reason you have decided not to attend this year’s open water zones trip, please let us know asap so that we can attempt to fill the void.
Just a reminder – Your age group at Open Water Zones is determined by FINA Age, which is the age you will be as of December 31, 2022.
The 11/12-year old’s will swim the 2K and the 13&Up’s will swim the 5K. Team Pursuit Relays will be swum on Sunday and will be determined by the coaching staff. We are looking forward to a GREAT trip this year. Thank you all for supporting Open Water and swimming “Beyond the Black Line”.

The team will be selected based on the 2021/2022 Short Course and Long Course season's distance events and age. Swimmers must have an AA time in the 400/500, 800/1000, or /1500/1650 Freestyle to apply. Previous Open Water experience is also taken into consideration when selecting the team.

2021 Open Water Zones - June 4-6 - Chattanooga, TN

This year, all travel will be the responsibility of each individual family. We will not be traveling as a team.

Swimmers must have an AA time in the 400/500, 800/1000, or 1500/1650 Freestyle to apply.
Consideration will also be given to 2019 LC times as well as previous Open Water experience.
