Questions About Registering Individuals?

Parents of athletes do NOT need to select or pay for any USA Swimming membership to create a "parent login account." Parents do not need to select any membership category (athlete, coach, official, other, administrator) if you are just registering your child as an athlete. There is no membership requirement or fee for a parent to create a login account. You will be given a USA Swimming ID when you create a parent login account, but simply having a USAS ID that is associated with parent login account is not a USA Swimming membership.

Provisional Coaches can be new Coach members or coaches with at least a one-year lapse in their previous Coach membership. Provisional Coaches are limited to a three-year term. After three years, Provisional Coaches must become Coach members to continue coaching. Each Provisional Coach member must be directly supervised by a Coach member who is in good standing (one-to-one supervision).

However, parents are issued USA Swimming member ID numbers when they create login accounts, but these ID numbers have an associated membership type associated with them, unless a fee is paid for the desired membership type.

Other non-athlete members must complete a background check and complete the annual Athlete Protection Training. For more information about completing a background check, click here. For more information about the APT, click here.
