Clubs: This note is being sent to your Head Coach and club contact. Please forward it to your coaching and administrative staff.

Clubs,

We hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving Holiday! The South Texas Swimming office will be closed November 27-30 for the holiday.

This update includes some important reminders and updates:

  • Open Water Zone applications for coaches and athletes
  • 2026 registration reminders
  • Reminder to send your club roster for recon
  • Club survey
  • 2026 planning calendar meet requests
  • Requests for the coach clinic Zoom link recording

Open Water Zone applications for coaches and athletes are now open. All distance swimmers ages 11 and older are encouraged to apply. Please click here for more information about the trip, and for links to the coach and athlete applications.

2026 registration reminders will be sent directly from USA Swimming starting December 1 and again on December 15 to all 2025 members who have not yet renewed for 2026. Please start reminding your members that they MUST renew prior to December 31 to continue swimming in 2026. There are no grace periods for renewals. Any athletes, coaches, or other members should not be allowed to practice with or work for your club until they complete their renewals. We’re currently at 5,600 members so we still have about 2,500 members who still need to renew for 2026!

Need help with figuring out who needs to renew? This is a reminder to send me your club roster for recon. Many of the clubs that have done this already have commented that the reports they received from me have made it much easier to figure out who needs to renew and which athletes need data corrections. What are you waiting for? Send me your roster today and let’s make your life easier! Click here for the instructions that I sent out to all clubs on November 12. I can accept files in the following formats: Hy-Tek (*.cl2), SDIF (*.sd3), and Lenex (*.lef).

The Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement Committee is requesting assistance from all STX member clubs to learn more about how our clubs support athletes who need financial assistance to be able to participate in the sport of swimming and how clubs support para athletes and athletes with physical and/or cognitive disabilities. The committee will use this information to continue expanding opportunities for our member athletes and clubs that include these athletes in their programs. These opportunities may include promotion of events for athletes with disabilities, financial and other assistance, and creating a network of coaches for supporting athletes with disabilities and other needs. Please complete the survey posted here to assist the DICE Committee with data collection.

Are you busy planning your club’s meet schedule for 2026? If you are planning to host meets, please let me know by completing the form posted here so I can post them for you in advance of sanctioning. This is a great way to let other teams know your plans and to increase participation at your meets! The meet calendar is posted here so you can see other meets that have already been planned. Our calendar also includes links to national and other higher-level meets to make it easier for our clubs to find information for meets not hosted by STX.

If you weren’t able to attend the Dryland Clinic hosted by the STX Coach Committee and would like a copy of the recording, please send me a note to [email protected] and I’ll send you the link. Resources from the meeting are posted here for reference.

Have a great Thanksgiving!
