General Information

We have a total of three Athlete Representatives on the BOD:

  • Jr. Athlete Representative
  • Sr. Athlete Representative
  • At-Large Athlete Representative

The Athlete Representatives serve as the liaison between the athletes who are members of STX and the Board of Directors and House of Delegates.

In order to be an Athlete Representative, the following requirements must be met:

  • Be currently competing, or have competed within the two (2) immediately preceding years, in a USA Swimming sanctioned event conducted by STX or another LSC
  • Have his or her place of permanent residence in the Territory and expect to reside therein throughout at least the first half of the term (other than periods of enrollment in an institution of higher education).
  • Must be at least a sophomore in high school or 16 years of age.

Note that all currently registered, 13 and older South Texas Swimming (STX) athletes in good standing are eligible to both nominate and vote for the Athlete Representatives. Parents and Coaches are not eligible to nominate or vote.

Athlete Committee

In addition to being a BOD member, all Athlete Representatives are members of the Athlete Committee, with the Sr. Athlete Representative being the Chair.

In addition to the Athlete Representatives, the committee also includes at least four additional South Texas Athlete Members appointed by the Senior Athlete Board Representative with the advice and consent of the Board of Directors. No more than three (3) Members of any Group Member shall serve on the committee at any time, no more than two (2) of which may be from an individual site of the Group Member.

The Athlete Committee has the following responsibilities:

  • General charge of the business and affairs of the Athletes
  • Undertake activities delegated by the BOD
  • Initiate activities that are in the best interest of the Athlete Members, STX, USAS, and the sport of swimming
  • Submit monthly report to the BOD summarizing the month's activities (Chair is responsible for this)
